What is a CSA?

Members of a Community Supported Agriculture program support local farmers by buying "shares" of future harvests -- in this case, livestock. By paying for shares up front, CSA members guarantee we can assure farmers the capital they need to bring their animals from field to market. In return, members receive regular pickups of products.

What comes with a SCMC Meat CSA membership?

The SCMC Meat CSA has a one-time $25 lifetime membership fee. CSA members receive a monthly box containing a mix of frozen retail-cut meats. Becoming a member helps create a more affordable supply of meat that is raised locally, sustainably, and humanely. Throughout the year, CSA Members can also enjoy surprise perks, such as special discounts!

What is in a package?

Our boxes contain a mix of frozen locally raised grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and lamb. The cuts will range from steaks and roasts to ground. If your heart is set on a particular cut, best to come into our retail butcher shop. However, if you enjoy getting a great deal and a variety of wholesome meat, this CSA is for you.

How much do I save by becoming a CSA member?

At ~ $8.09 /lb - $8.99 /lb (if you buy 12 months in advance - if you pay month by month), you can expect an overall savings compared to buying cuts directly from a retail case or farmers' markets. When you imagine a grass-fed rib eye selling for over $20 /lb in retail, you get the idea.

When is the order deadline?

The deadline for placing an order, making changes to an existing order, or updating credit card information is 11:59 pm on the Saturday one week before pickup day.

When are pickups?

Pickups are made on the first Saturday of the month between 10 am - 6 pm. Packages not picked up during this time will be forfeited.

Where are pickups?

All pickups are at Sonoma County Meat Co.'s retail butcher shop at 35 Sebastopol Ave, Santa Rosa. 707-521-0121.

What if I am going out of town and would like to skip a pickup?

A member may request to skip a month's pick up (thereby extending their subscription by a month) using the online CSA member dashboard. After logging in, click on the link "Place box on hold." It is required that you give 1 week advanced notice. Your request will be confirmed via email.

What happens when my subscription expires?

All of our subscriptions are set to auto-renew to a month-by-month payment schedule once the initial term runs out. If you'd like to make any changes to your auto-renewal settings, please contact us!
